Day 6

Pyramid Houses: Very complicated, but very worthwhile!
The weather cooperated! With the sun overhead, we PWC’d, planned, and sang to get ready for our day. We started out with the Bonnie (or Body) song. Great for getting the blood flowing. We played the Banjo and put our best backwoods twang into the Mountain Dew song. We learned about another man in the woods who was visited by the same rabbit, sang the Pop-Trash-Chips song in rounds (we are so good!) and wrapped up the singing with Done Song and Coffee Song. Whew!

Then it was off to work. The saw was a humming and the hammers were a singing. So much fantastic work is going into our houses! It’s especially fun to see all of the creative solutions (why yes, this pleather can hold my house together) as well as Homesteaders helping each other out (but of course, let me help you staple that). The designs are especially interesting: between A-frame homes and "tiny homes", we have some clever (and frugal) Peeps this year.

Before we knew it we were snacking and getting ready for the pond. Today, a groups of homesteaders ventured out on their first long swim, going half way across the pond and back again!

The afternoon work block was equally productive and ended with another town meeting, called by Johnny Dark. Roughly half of the village arrived at town square to discuss a new form of government. As the entire community has had their share of lawlessness, they were clamoring for rules (Parents: I repeat, your children wanted rules). Johnny proposed that he and Morgan take over Little Leaf and rule via oligarchy. They said that they would take into account the will of the people, but that some things would not be up for discussion. For example, NO Stealing!! (Right now there is only taking.... It’s anarchy). After a few distractions (A peep with no clothes on! A peep running through the meeting yelling "anarchy!") and some subtle bribing (the new government offered everyone in attendance five free trading post items!!) the group voted in favor of the oligarchy. . . . And in moments there were whispers of unrest.

oligarchy (n): Form of government ruled by few unelected individuals

New leaders emerge
The meeting adjourned and those in attendance rejoined the pizza makers! The cob oven was put to good use, making everyone delicious pizza. Thank you to everyone who brought in ingredients, tools, etc. which made this possible! Some homesteaders stuck around for seconds and ninja, while others headed over to the field for a game of Capture the Flag.

What’s next for Little Leaf?! Stay tuned!
See? We work together, usually!
